WHO WE ARE

The Church of the Holy Spirit

Our highest priority is to be a disciple-making church, to equip, encourage and build up mature and effective Christians who will be examples of Christ-like living.

Make new connections through Alpha

Who is it for?

Alpha is open to everyone who is curious about faith and interested in unpacking the basics of the Christian faith in a friendly, open, and informal environment. So it is an ideal platform to INVITE family and friends that would like to be introduced to Jesus.

How does it work?

We meet at St Agnes, share a cup of coffee or light meal and watch an Alpha episode together. The Alpha episodes are designed to engage and inspire conversation. They’re about 30 minutes long and explore issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity.

How can you get involved?

If you are new to Alpha or want a refresher, sign up as a participant. Share the link and invite a friend to join you. Think of one person that you could bless with one conversation, with one invitation.

Tenebrae

The name means ‘shadows’ and it’s a series of six readings and music with a candle being snuffed out at the end of each, to leave the church in darkness.

The way of the Cross

The Stations of the Cross depict the way of the cross in the Passion of Jesus Christ, beginning with Jesus being condemned to death and ending with His body being laid in a tomb. It is a journey in which we meet with jeers, rejection, humiliation and trials. We also meet with a few sympathetic onlookers who offer help in small or big ways to ease the burden.

Foot Washing

We will begin Maundy Thursday with the Eucharist with foot washing and stripping of the altar.

Passover Seder Meal

The Passover Seder is a celebration of the fulfillment of God’s promise to Abraham in Jesus who reveals the fullness of the covenant meal of Passover given to the Hebrew people in the Exodus from Egypt.

Good Friday Three Hours Devotion

This day is usually spent in silence, prayer and meditation. From 12h00 noon to 3h00 p.m., we celebrate a "Three Hours Devotion," to commemorate the time Jesus hung and died on the cross.

His glorious resurrection!

Each year St Agnes begins the celebration the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ with an Easter Sunrise Service at 6h00 am followed by services at normal times.
